Athreyan inherited 5 acres of ancestral land from his father which was acquired by his grandfather with the dream of doing some farming and building a small house to stay there on vacations. His grandfather used to visit the place all weekends.His wish remained unfulfilled.The place was so fertile it had a river flowing on one side of the land. On the other side of the boundary there was Mithran who was already having a farm house built there.The place was just an hour drive from Athreyan’s place.

As soon as Athreyan received the deed he was so excited, about two things, firstly it was his ancestral land and secondly , he was not living far away from that land. He made up his mind to undertake regular visits, at least twice a month. To start off initially he was periodical with his visits and plans of building were very strongly present in his mind. As the years rolled by his visit to the land stopped. He was too engrossed in his day-to-day activities which left with him no time to attend to the land.

On a weekend Athreyan had gone to a family get-together, where he met his cousins and they were discussing about that piece of land and the huge development happening in that place. Athreyan was reminded of the land and wanted to visit it and undertake the mission which was incomplete.

He was excited to visit the land after 2 long years and started on a sunny Saturday morning. He was taking the regular route which he used to travel before, after some distance of travel he realised that he would get lost without the map assistance. So, with the help of Google map, he finally managed to reach his place. The place was covered with tall bushes and he could not step in and walk around the land. So, he decided to get the place cleaned and start off with his mission of creating a farm house.

All efforts were taken and the land got cleared of all the unwanted bushes in just a week’s time. Now Athreyan along with his family visited the land and to his dismay he found many problems in the land. On one side where the river was flowing, land was eroded due to rains and the exact boundaries weren’t visible. He started walking around the land thinking of ways to get this fixed and to his great disappointment he found Mithran from other side was dumping all his wastes in to his land and he was not able to locate the boundary line. As Athreyan came out and ready to start, he was caught off guard by Mithran asking whether he would sell his land to him. Now Athreyan decided to meet his lawyer to discuss further ways to set this right.

'Visit it' the lawyer said simply.' 'That’s what your grandfather did regularly'. The lawyer started explaining various legal aspects and technical aspects like encroachment, fencing and laws governing the land. This was all beyond Athreyan’s understanding and he was left with very little time to know all this and follow it up. His mind was too heavy with many thoughts flashing and confusions about protecting his land.

He started to visit his lawyer frequently to get his land ready which took off his time from his family and profession. It was now that his lawyer suggested an idea.
